San Isidro belongs to the Province of Heredia, located 8 kilometers northeast of the City of Heredia. It limits to the east with the Province of San José. It is located 1,360 meters above sea level, with a total area of 26.96 km². and temperatures that oscillate between 15ºC and 25ºC depending on the altitude. Known in colonial times as "Saca de agua" for its underground aquifers that give abundant water to its neighbors. This was the land of the Indian chief, the Yorustí cacique.
Here we find the town of San Josecito, which has the neighborhoods of Santa Cruz and Santa Elena. Route 32 that connects the Central Valley with the Costa Rican Caribbean region crosses a large part of the canton of San Isidro which has allowed a greater development of the canton as well as a faster communication between San Isidro and the city of San José.
